Overview
WeCraft COD Fee & Rules is a Shopify app for stores that offer cash on delivery. Merchants decide when COD is available and what it costs, and the app applies that fee to the order.
The problem
Cash-on-delivery requirements vary between merchants, and stores often need more flexible fee and availability rules than a simple fixed setup.
The approach
Develop a merchant-focused Shopify application that provides configurable cash-on-delivery rules and fees.
Keep configuration inside the Shopify admin, show the fee clearly at checkout, and apply it reliably once the order exists.
Engineering
Build the application around Shopify platform integrations, configurable business logic, and an interface designed for merchant workflows.
E.01
Consent at checkout
A checkout UI extension shows the fee to the buyer and requires explicit consent before it can apply.
E.02
Order updates through webhooks
An orders/create webhook applies the fee through the Admin GraphQL API and order edits. Without consent no fee is added, and it can never exceed the amount the buyer agreed to.
E.03
Merchant settings
Rules, fees and consent texts are managed from the app's admin screens, with consent texts available in ten languages.
E.04
Platform stack
Built on Shopify's Remix app stack with Prisma session storage, and deployed to Fly.io.
E.05
From one store to many
Turning a single-merchant setup into a multi-merchant app meant working through Shopify App Store review, including its requirements for pricing clarity and buyer consent.
My role
I worked on application development, commerce integration, and delivering the product for Shopify merchants.
Outcome
A Shopify app running in production on real merchant stores. On its first store, it replaced a third-party app as the only cash-on-delivery mechanism.
